OpenAI’s leadership visiting India —Srinivas Narayanan (CTO, B2B applications), Nikunj Handa (Product), Thomas Jeng (Startups, APAC) and Sidharth Sharma (GTM) — joined a select group of Startup Policy Forum members for “AI Baatcheet” over breakfast.

The OpenAI team reiterated their growing focus on India while offering thoughtful insights into their work on improving model intelligence, building more capable agents, advancing video generation, expanding distribution and discussing ways for Indian founders to plug in and build.

Our discussion touched upon how AI adoption is steadily levelling the playing field for startups with global ambitions and narrowing the gap between human and AI performance.

Founders shared perspectives on improving unit economics, enabling better on-site support, addressing regulatory concerns, and specific use cases for driving adoption.

The visit coincided with OpenAI’s DevDay Exchange — a forum showcasing new developer tools and engaging the builder community across India.

In the room were founders who are leading AI adoption at scale in their startups that span multiple sectors including fintech, e-commerce, healthtech, insuretech, EVs, traveltech and more.

This further builds on SPF’s engagement with the OpenAI team after we visited their headquarters in San Francisco in September ‘25 leading a delegation of founders for our inaugural “Startup Safari.”

It also takes forward our overall mission of enabling partnerships, knowledge exchange and opportunities for our members.
